This is a group song from the Teratali musical repertoire of the Kamal community, in which the women sing while performing elaborate gestures and movements in a seated posture, rhythmically beating the manjira (cymbals) tied to their shoulders, hands, and legs. In this songs, the focus of attention is not Ramdev, but Krishna and his dalliance with the jujari (or gopikas, cowgirls).

Structured in a question-and-answer mode, the song is cast in the form of a playful bhajan (devotional song), which proceeds through a series of familiar tropes and teasing questions: “From where did Krishna come? From where did he bring the gujari?” We learn the Krishna comes from Mathura, the girls from Gokulgarh. Later, we are told that while Krishna is 12 years old, his female companions are a year older. When Krishna demands that a tax be paid to him, the gujari get into an argument so that they can hear the voice of their divine lover. There is ample scope here for vocal and melodic improvisation, with the additional variation of the Teratali dance movement providing a stimulus.
